Hi everyone, new to the forum, read the great Omega buying guides & advice on here (regarding re- brushing & re-dials) but it all still feels very unknown & very scary territory for me!
My dear husband turns 60 in April and I wanted something special from the family to him so I started on my Vintage Omega search. He isn’t ‘into’ watches but doesn’t like the modern huge face watches & thought maybe putting it onto a genuine Nato fabric strap (for comfort as he doesn’t like metal straps!) & then getting the Nato chrome bars engraved if possible could all add up to a very deserved & special gift for him.
So I’ve just found this 1961 Seamaster for sale (have been searching for a long whilst also looking at the Cosmic).
Initial thoughts would be so appreciated from another eye with experience, I’ve been saving for a while hoping to find the right one, being a 1961 (his birth year) & willing to pay a premium for it (it’s £1400), but I really don’t want to make a huge mistake with this kind of money. So could any members kindly give an opinion & some honest experienced advice for me? Vicky

Hmmm... should we worry something went wrong?
Bit sad to have no update after the collective effort to help out. Hope nothing seriously bad happened.
My guess is the OP came, asked politely, got what she needed, and has not felt a great need to return. I don’t blame her. Watches are probably not that interesting to her so I doubt OF is top of mind.
Like you, I’d love to know how it went, but I’m not holding my breath.

Or very, very right!
We may have to be content providing great advice and realizing that our hobby is "our hobby" and received on a different level among others.
There are givers and users in this world and she is definitely a "giver". She gave us an interesting predicament that we enjoyed following.
Like a baby bird leaving the nest, Syrte, be warm knowing that you provided the best, the necessary and sent your fledgling out into the world well-equipped, never knowing it's fate.
She may not realize our interest in a follow-up but she definitely received world-class support and undoubtedly has fond memories of the help you kind souls provided.
Having said that,
The bitch could at least tell us how it went! 🤬

Yes I did congratulate, and don’t think I said Vicky failed to thank or came and went. I just was hoping to hear about the last update.
I also spent a lot of time trying to help—but that of course, was my choice.
