I did. It is the first Omega that I have bought. Seemed like a good price. I did not notice it not saying swiss made. I just got the watch today and it looks quite good. Other than it not saying swiss made, everything else seems to look legit; but I would like to hear others thought on the watch. It also runs a little slow.

I agree with DON that it looks like an old redial. The crown is also incorrect, I believe.

Thank you, I thought so too. It looks better in person. I'm curious, would you guys get the dial cleaned? If so, what does a place usually charge to do that?

I would honestly get the dial cleaned (shouldn't cost too much since it is in a nice condition, just needs some touching up) but also the hands and hour markers. They're a little dirty, however you need to take it to a professional so as not to damage them. And perhaps get the hands relumed as well...

Very nice first Omega at an excellent price, even if the dial is refinished!

This model is known as a "large medallion" case back...notice that the Seamaster logo, at 18mm, is larger than most medallions which were about 14mm. I don't believe a lot of collectors outside of this forum are very familiar with them...after all, the large medallion is unnoticeable when worn.

There is also case reference # 2975, including your 2846 2848 dual ref #. I also have owned a stainless reference 2867-2, caliber 503 date model which had a large case diameter of 38mm excluding the crown (38mm was considered jumbo size in the late 50's when common size cases were 34-35mm!)

Supposedly these "large medallion" models were made for a short period of time, maybe 2-3 years, around 1958. They normally came with full rotor 20 jewel caliber 501, like yours.

I've owned them in stainless steel, yellow gold capped, and pink gold capped, the capped versions usually have matching color medallion (see my avatar). They also came in solid gold, which I have only seen, but not owned.

Since it does not say, "Swiss Made", where do you believe it was made? And thank you for all the information, it's very helpful.

Watch was still made in Switzerland, it's just that someone else has repainted the dial at some point and didn't put "Swiss made" back on the dial

It was made in Switzerland. It just doesn't say that anymore because the dial was remade.

Lack of SWISS MADE only indicates that the dial was poorly refinished.
