Is this fixable or replaceable?

Hey all! Just got my Admiralty back from getting a crystal swapped (PZ5127) and I saw this at 33 minutes, just right of the “T”. Cracked! Sad day for my Admiralty.

NOTE: I’m stupid! I just moved away from my Omega repair guy and tried someone new locally. Big mistake!! I’m going to drive hours on Monday and try to see if my guy can save my Admiralty. This looks more than the tension ring to me, if so, is this “inner bezel ring” replaceable? Thanks for all the help!!

P.S. I have another PZ5127 crystal.

It’s the tension ring. They are typically split, but there shouldn’t really be a big gap.

Seems like it would be barely noticeable to the naked eye.

There are probably some watchmakers who take the time to align the gap in the ring to six or twelve so that it's not so "off".

They probably even align the Ω in the crystal to be level and perpendicular to the split before installing the crystal.

😉

Wow! It is the tension ring!? Well I thought the split was too perfect. So my ideal Omega guy should be able to re-align it or hide it at 6? Or should I just have it replaced altogether? I do have another crystal with ring. Thank guys, I was worried.

I know, right? Maybe at 6 or 12 like @JimInOz noted. But my eye went right to it, ugh. Plus it’s not flush and I’m nutz. Thanks for settling my down a bit Dan S.

With a gap like this, the watchmaker might be able to move the split to 3 o'clock, which might be the position, you hardly notice it. No need to replace.

Thanks @watchyouwant! I feel better and am confident my Omega watchmaker will hide it. Should have went to him first. Live and learn.

There is actually an Omega specification as to where the split should be, Al has mentioned it before but I can't remember what the position is.

Between 5 and 7 o'clock on the dial.

I remember a time where I didn't buy watches that had the Omega sign on the crystal not level with the watch

But honestly, I think it's in the best place could be, so just ignore it? - It looks good to me too, it's like it's just at the start of T SWISS MADE T - a fitting place

I don't get my watches serviced, as I'm afraid the lume pips are going to be damaged, so making a watch go through another crystal change just to move from one bad alignment to another bad alignment really doesn't make sense, to me, in my opinion and with my approach

Looks the positioning is right, according to @Archer, and if it was flush, with a noticeable split, I’d be fine with it. It’s hard to see in my photos, but it’s way off. Almost like it was bent, like a old suitcase that isn’t locked down properly. Or those old matchbox car racing strips that your friend didn’t interlock one of the segments. Thanks for responding and helping out.

A little better photo, from a better angle. @kaplan makes a great point about “over-servicing” and it is making me pause. But I’m too crazy to look at this every-time I glance at 33 after the hour. I just hope the ring is salvageable because the crystal is awful pretty!
I’m also guessing that my Admiralty has had the lume repainted at some point in its lifetime. Just a thought after I took these pics outside. Thanks again all!!

At that angle it looks worse, but you might get used to it - no one who sees your watch other than you will notice it. The seconds hand flaking is more noticeable, and kinda why I'm afraid of getting a watch serviced, all that hands damage are likely from earlier services

As an obsessive person, I give something 1-2 months, if it still bothers me after 1-2 months, I do something about it

I don't know whether it applies to your case tho, in terms of whether the servicer has accountability, the 1-2 months of delay will eliminate that accountability

To give you an example, the watchmaker that my father and now brother uses, capable guy, swift with services, warned my brother against replacing the crystal, my brother was wanting to preserve the crystal, but he told him something along the lines of "forget about the crystal, I can't even guarantee not scratching the case during a crystal change"

That's good to know, thanks.
(if my SM Cosmic's tension ring ended up with the split there then it was purely by accident... 😀

Clearly this watch is a source of great anxiety. Send it to me and I’ll dispose of it and send you a lovely Casio in exchange.

Went to my Omega guy today and he said “no problem”, let’s fix it. Or… he said how about this?

I went with the mag window! So I guess it was a blessing in disguise. Without popping in a new crystal, me being “anxious” and dwelling on the tension ring, I wouldn’t have ended up with the mag window. All good in the end! Thanks for all the advice!
