Is this expected wear for 18k Connie medallion?

Hello OF

I'm looking at an 18k connie f300 from 1972 and am a little concerned by the distortion of the observatory. It could be that this is expected after 50 years as 18k is soft, or that there is an issue. I don't think it's over-polished as the stars would normally be the first to go and they look pretty sharp to me. My concern is more around the areas highlighted in the picture below.

Other than this the watch is in very clean condition, with well defined brushing.

What do you think?

Bumping this incase anyone has any thoughts but missed it when I originally posted. I know it's not a great picture but hopefully shows enough to tell if there's something very wrong with it.

Thanks

Do you have photos of the rest of the watch? Evaluation as a whole would probably be better.

There’s nothing to see with the rest of the watch. I’m sure it’s legit. It’s just the medallion that has me scratching my head. Here’s a shot of the whole of the back.

Every reference is a bit different with these 18K f300s and even from varies from case maker to maker, compare apples to apples.

That’s helpful. I forgot that gold cases are made by different fabricators and that I can expect some variations. I will hopefully be able to see the piece irl soon and will ask to see the inside of the case back.

I’ve definitely seen much, much worse, I’d call that medallion quite decent really, the stars tend to be the first thing to go most of the time.

I have a 1965 getting serviced right now whose caseback is much more worn down than that one. I think yours is pretty good, though I am a rookie at that sort of evaluation.
