    That case back is the same as on the 2652 too. That dial has also been seen on the 2652.

    Anybody here wants to find out?

    2887 and not 2652. Dial gives it away - the word omega is not printed.

    I didn't say it couldn't be a 2887, just the chance is 50/50.
    If you do not have more info than publicly available, sure. :)

    but why would anybody purposely polish out the minor stars -and the 'head' of the observatory to boot?
    -and for my benefit -what makes this a 2887?

    There seems no sign of polishing on that caseback. Those small stars just have been worn out, because they were... small. ;)
