To be honest, I quite like it. This is the 28.800 version of the Defy A3651. The case has all the original finish and the Gay Freres bracelet is very nice and stiff. IMO, this model is so underappreciated. What are your thoughts on the dial?
If you own it and you like it, that really is all that matters, isn’t it? If you like it and don’t own it and are considering buying it, then the opinions of others may help. How can suggestions from others, help? If you have questions, ask away.
I do own the watch, and as mentioned quite like it. I'm just curious to hear what others think about it. On this particular watch, the damage is really from a dial manufacturing defect, something they fixed on later models if I understand correctly. For me personally, this detail does enhance how I generally feel about the watch and its dial condition.
With any kind of luck, there may have been a recall on the earlier models where dials were a problem. Very often, such recalls (if there was one) may only apply to the original owner. Maybe check with a Zenith dealer, or correspond with Zenith, themselves.
I find that dial absolutely gorgeous I reckon others might have a very different opinion but if you like it does it really matter?
I think it adds character. Obviously, it affects value, but that's a secondary concern. Of primary concern is that case! Look at that case! So sharp and lovely.
I find this dial very attractive. A lot of these A3651 have degraded dials, yours with the text all visible tips the balance between ugly and beautiful
Yep - agreed, for me it adds character. I particularly like that it isn’t uniform - and the Zenith logo is clearly visible.
Really appreciate all of your responses (positive or not)! Here is one more picture of the dial. The printed text is perfectly in tact. Here are some pictures of the movement after servicing. Thanks!
So this dial is the horological equivalent of a rat rod or heavily patinated Ford Bronco/Chevy Blazer/Land Rover. I like the dial. I’d look into having it stabilized like the clear coats they use on patinated vehicles.
Tell the truth, it's hard to even see the dial past that stunning case and bracelet. After tearing my eyes away from the case I got stuck on the hands! Then the bitchin' chrono hand. This is amazing.
