You'll note it has an unmarked buckle because it's an OEM strap for US market and based on said buckle, looks like Jacoby-Bender, assuming of course that's the buckle that came with the strap.

I think this is an 13mm buckle stretched out to 14mm with a very wrong pin

To be honest 13mm would be rarer when bent back and 18-13 19-13 etc. are nice tapers, right on the edge of acceptable limits

But that pin just reduces the value to 0 - not only wrong, it's ridiculous and it'll damage the logo
I think you may actually be right. And that makes the seller, chrono-shop.net basically shyster criminals, for selling damaged goods at inflated prices. I posted the name so it might pop up in future Google searches. They deserve the bad rep for this.

Why is it that the sellers of used goods are so often not to be trusted?

Not necessarily true. I have a number of these NOS Omega straps which have signed buckles, as well as having had more than a few American market complete sets pass through my hands. More likely that the seller is double dipping, having removed the signed buckle to sell separately.

Interesting, truly. As a person who just started to learn the struggles that come with vintage buckles this really blows my mind. So many details to take into account.

This buckle is also not the style I'm after so I would've passed anyways 😀

Yes, looks splayed.

Right. No way of knowing what buckle came with that strap and when the strap was sold, and was it sold on a watch or separately... way too many things. About the only thing we "know" is that its markings are consistent with Jacoby-Bender and the buckle also appears similar in style to other Jacoby-Bender buckles.

OP I agree with @SkunkPrince on this one

You just didn't do your homework, if you've even just googled "14mm Omega Buckle" and looked at a couple of photos you'd see this:

The new one you bought also has a wrong pin

My personal opinion: 14mm Swiss marked buckles are rarer than 16mm ones and I personally like 19-14 straps most, so I'd pay upwards of $100 for one, so your price points in my opinion are not bad - but keep in mind that everyone else sees 16mm as more valuable, so market is against us

On the bright side you can just find a new pin at one point, they are interchangeable

This guy knows his straps!

True what you said about the market. How do you it has an incorrect pin btw? I hav seen some with a pin that has an shaper angle in the bottom but also ones that are flimsy looking like this that are claimed to be correct by an enthusiast.

Some solid gold pins are flimsy looking, but these models usually have charismatic pins

Basically easiest way is to find some identical examples

Everybody makes mistakes 😀

An MG buckle is a good purchase but make sure to check other listings of the seller, if there are just buckles from different watch brands, it'll be a fake buckler

But these photos look honest

Thanks for judging, truly appreciate the help!

Here's the seller's eBay profile: https://ebay.com/usr/1210watchstuff-be

He has solid feedback from over 1500 persons and at least based on a quick glance the stuff he sells seems legit. (Let me know if you disagree/spot something suspicious)

Also the buckle was just 73€ shipped so the price was also quite reasonable when compared to many I've seen. Didn't get the impressions that he was just trying to make a quick buck and not care about the product. Seemed like an honest person but I'll confirm after receiving and inspecting the buckle😁

Yes at a quick glance legit, same background and mostly other watch parts
