Hi guys, Came across this omega with a black dial. Most black dial (dress) omegas that pop up have repainted dials i think. What do you think of this one? Best, Fabian
Only one dash to the side of Swiss Made? I thought there should be one either side or possibly none at all on this reference.
If it’s refinished, they did a very nice job. I’d have to see it with some magnification. The hands are bare metal and age very differently than the paint. There are some very talented re finishers around.
uneven spacing between some of the applied markers and the adjacent minute tick marks. Most noticeable at the 1 and 6.
The angle of the photo and optical distortion from the crystal could account for what you are seeing. I don’t see it, but my eyes are old. The spacing looks pretty good to me.
I would lean towards original...the fonts look pretty good and I usually see these redialed with white text instead of the silver gilt, like the originals had. It is a bit hard to tell 100% from these pictures though.
Depends on the year of production, early tritium dials had no T's. From the hands and case shape, I'd say this watch could be that period. Leaning towards genuine, but better pictures and some info on what case/cal. it's supposed to be would help.
Apart from the dash next to Swiss Made (which could just be a reflection) I am also leaning towards good.
My gut feeling from the first two pics was redial as the text appeared very white and the dial overly glossy. However, that could be the white balance of the pictures as pic 3 looks much better and I think it could well be original. Better pictures needed to be sure. Without that it's something of a gamble.
With the last pics provided, I would say original. But a good pic of the Swiss made would help. I would have say redial with the first pics... Good example of the importance of decent pics!
If a bunch of OF watch nerds can’t form a consensus if it’s a redial or not does it really matter at that point?
