I think it is always easier to remove the bezel and pop off the insert from behind no? Especially for a competent watchmaker with the proper tools.
Once the bezel is off, the inert can be removed. Then Natale the bezelon the watch, and press the insert ont in the proper location.
It looks to me like you have just turned it one click too far. I have this exact model in my hands right now, and if I turn it one click past 12, it looks exactly like yours.
The tabs on the click spring look pretty worn, so if you can't make it line up then that would be the thing to change.
