so yes, I would probably sell it as is myself, as I hate gold on watches and think it makes that model look dated. But, if you could find a replacement for the gold bezel pips, you could then wear it on a strap, and I think it would look way better - basically swap out the pips for the ones of of this model:

I should note - I have no idea if this is possible, or where you would locate the pips from.

I know this situation, been there myself. It's certainly more the fear of giving up what you already have in hand, but with rare exception I have always been happy to try something new. Your words indicate this isn't a passion piece, so put simply, let it go and grab the new piece. It seems clear that if you ever did pick the Breitling up again that it would be the non-gold version, so I see no downside.

I thought about this at one point but would cost a lot of cash to do I’m assuming. I just sold it about a hour ago!!

Hey everyone thanks for helping out, the watch has been sold I’ll make a new post when I get the explorer 2. Probably won’t be anytime soon as I’m still saving for this piece. In the meantime I’ll keep enjoying my 2531.80 smp and also my aqua terra that I’m wearing now.

Its a pleasure to be part of this forum!

I do not know what you paid but if you are taking a significant hit, I would just keep it.

I sold it for 1100 purchased for 1350 plus tax from crown and caliber only reason I bought it is I had a 400 off code so it made sense for me. Otherwise it would have been close to 1900 with tax

Me too... last month I went in to try and buy a $20,000 watch. :whipped:

This hobby is starting to get expensive I thought I was going to be happy with the first watch and then I find myself buying a 5k watch now want a 10k watch lol. Things are getting out of control. In all seriousness I’m not going to regret selling the watch I’m more so going to regret the conditions it’s in but I’m sure I’ll find something better

That’s a good amount of cash, what kind of watch was it?

Tried and failed. Dealer asked me to buy another $50,000 watch before allocating me one. Granted, that's actually less than than some of the stories i've heard about other watches. I've been asked a lot more for a nautilus.

Until I can afford to keep all of my watches I have a ‘fund’. This fund can’t be added to (do straps and accessories count?)
Therefore I only keep what I truly enjoy wearing. I’ve had some great vintage Rolex but these have been moved on to make way for a Speedmaster and Seamaster. I’ve had a couple of Panerai, but only kept the 233. I also have a couple of G-Shock and vintage Skindivers. I look forward to wearing each of these.
If that Breitling isn’t being worn, and you’ve got an offer you’re comfortable with then go for it. Use the funds to buy a piece that you truly like.

I'm the same boat with a JLC. Never wear it, and after trying on an Explorer II 16570 yesterday I'm pretty much decided to sell the JLC, which will put me well on the way to the Explorer and forking out more money than I ever thought possible in a bloody watch.

Joined OF 3 years ago with the purchase of a modest vintage Connie. I really thought that was it. One watch for life. Now look at me! Where did it all go wrong?
If you haven't read this post, I advise you do so before it's too late...anything to help a fellow addict.
