I received an heirloom vintage seamaster from my late grandfather. It has not been serviced in more than ten years so I took it to an Omega boutique for servicing back in December 2018. I was told the watch has been redialed but they still completed the servicing of the watch. I only know from my father that the watch is bought in the 60s and the date complication has an interesting quickset. It can be advanced by pulling the crown to the second position and the date will advance forward one day. My questions are: is this really a redialed watch? What movement is in this watch (I rather not open the back of the watch)?
It's probably a cal. 565, which a very fine automatic movement with a date that quick-sets when pulling out the crown in the furthest position. Designed by Omega when they were at their best
I too inherited a re-dailed watch, but it was not a careful reproduction of the original like yours is. My dial bared essentially no resambalance to the original. I am having the dial replaced with an older service dial which will be much closer to the original. I will wear the watch and enjoy it. It was my dad's and I'll never sell it, so the resale value is irrelevant to me. What you have is a beautiful watch with a family history. Enjoy it. You are wearing it for yourself, not some other collector. I bet that even a seasoned collector would have to take a hard stare at the watch to know it was a re-dailed. Just my two cents.
