Hi, first time posting here. This forum is great! I've recently came across a Omega aqua terra 2503.33.00. It is the old 2500 model with the white dial and blue markers, and it seems to be a harder to come by combination. Its automatic, not quartz Its currently selling for $2200 shipped after negotiations. But without box or papers, however it is from a pre-owned store and its authentic. Its been 'serviced' by themselves to clean it up and authenticate movement. This will be my first omega and I want to know if this is a good deal? It seems like this white dial and blue marker is more wanted than the other models, but it is a older model. Just want to know from you omega gurus if this is a good buy or not.
I was also wondering that... I see old for sale in 2008, 2009, the prices were below $2000. But it seems all the recent AT2500 are above $2000. What happened? Thats why I'd like to know if this is the new average price or are these ones that is going above $2000 just sitting around waiting for a buyer when the piece is really worth less than $2000
im a newbie when it comes to this history but i was just browsing around google and saw this article http://www.askmen.com/fashion/mens-watches_500/558_watch-snob-whats-happening-to-omega.html maybe thats why prices are higher? $1250 is an amzing price! i really want one of these 2500 aqua terras! Ill be happy to find my dream 2503.80 (or 2502.80) for $2k-ish or less.
The spoutings of of Watchsnob have little to do with anything other than the dissociative ramblings of his impaired brain.
so without box and papers... will this be a good buy? I know the box can probably be found for around $200 online, but the cards will still be missing. I'm not sure if this is a really big deal because I plan on using this watch personally. I'm only worried about the box and cards thing if I'm planning on upgrading or when I need to sell it. The watch itself is out of warranty already, but it seems like many are saying the "box and papers" are very important
~2000 would be my budget for now. I was thinking of nomos before, but then that one may not be able to be worn daily. Also, my wrist are very thin and the newer 8500 seem to all be over 40mm. Plus, this white dial with blue markers is especially attractive.
Huh? Why wouldn't you be able to wear a Nomos daily? There's a 38.5 mm version with several dial colors. I'm wearing the blue Skyfall right now.
I agree Nomos can be worn daily - I wear mine often. In terms of 2500 v 8500, the 8500's are very thick....lots of people prefer the 2500 versions of AT's and Po's for this reason.
To me the 2500 AT has a cleaner minimalistic design. no minute numbers and no lines through the watchface. And talking about clean, I just looked up Nomos, amazing looking watches! Gosh so many watch companies, where do I even start. how thick is a 2500 AT?
I just passed on a tangomat which was approx the same price. Because of that bauhaus design, it'll look way too big on my wrist to be wearing it daily. But I'm still thinking. This omega might look big on my wrist already, mine is around 6.25. I like how this omega looks with the white dial and blue markers, but this is probably my first "real" watch, so I don't know if its ok or not to be spending so much on a watch like this not to mention its without the box and papers.
Hi Spyder, I too have slim wrists (6.3") and like the rest, I think a 37-39mm size watch would be fine. I currently wear a 38.5mm AT8500 as well. The 8500 is thicker than the 2500 (13 vs 11.2mm) but I don't find the 13mm thickness an issue on my wrist. The 2503.33 is a nice watch, and a watch I've considered before, as the dark blue/white dial combo is quite attractive. The shade of the blue varies depending on lighting (much like the blue Skyfall). Personally though, the dial and details on the AT8500 are (to me) visually more appealing, as CanberraOmega has mentioned; the dial on the older 2500s look more 'flat' while the dials of the 8500s really pop. Some photos comparing the 8500 and 2500 ATs are here. You can always try the 8500s at a watch store and see how they look and feel. IMO the AT8500's strike the best balance between sporty and casual and dressy and are remarkably versatile. If you decide on them, you can always try looking for a pre-owned one on Watchrecon with B&P. Hope this helps.
Still can't decide... it seems I can't find enough pics of wrist photos because this watch wears bigger. I have a 36mm right now so jumping to this 39.2mm, I'm worried about it being too big. And its hard to buy things online since you can't put it on your wrist especially if its discontinued. BUT I did come across a 8500 for a few hundred more, but its not white dial with blue markers =(
I don't think they make an AT 8500 with a white dial and blue markers. There's a white dial with red & blue markings though - I think STEELE has posted pictures of it recently, maybe in the WRUW thread. EDIT: page 502 of the WRUW thread, halfway down the page.
