I don't see anything wrong. Movement dates it to 1960, marked as a USA import and the 17J cal 550 rather than the 24J cal 552 to avoid additional import charges. Front-loading unishell case is correct for this ref 14765.

Yep, even the movement's manufacture date corresponds to the correct period, meaning it's pre-DE VILLE on the dial (1963) and before Omega switched to 6 digit reference numbers (1962 / 1963-ish). That's why I asked Omega78 - maybe he has some inside information?

Sorry, I stand corrected. Only check with OVD and notice the difference caliber and jewels (dont know about USA import charges.) Still have to learn. Thank you. :)

No problem - just don't be scaring people away from good watches! The OVD isn't 100% complete and therefore isn't always telling the whole story.

...or correct, lots of incorrect information in the OVD.

There is probably more correct information available here on this forum than on the OVD.

Back to the OPs question, the watch isn't a bargain but it's not a bad watch for the price.

Both the case and dial are decent and the movement looks nice and clean.

I'd like it better closer to $400.00

Well done! In UK money that's only £260 GBP, and over here you can't get anything much for that ;)
    Enjoy your new (old) watch!
