Does anyone have one or was it just a prototype?

 

Prototype only. There is one in the Omega museum and I saw one for sale years ago in France, I think he was asking 40K Euro for it Needless to say I didn´t buy it!

 

Interesting, had never heard of one for sale, regardless of the price!

 

Omega experimented with numerous incarnations of the SM1000 with quartz units, the calibre 1310 SM1000 prototype is a really interesting one, the model on display at the museum is a 'production read' variant, interestingly the crystal is glued on to the case and then there is a retaining ring.

There were rumours a few years ago about an SM1000 Megasonic prototype as well, but I have never even seen an image of one, non the less I have no doubt it may well have existed.
