Is the Omega Seamaster mid-size too small?

I have worn a mid size Seamaster pretty much daily for about 15 years. I did consider a full size one, and tried both, but the mid size just felt ‘right’. I wasn’t aware that the size of the watch was a ‘thing’ back then, so I never gave it a second thought! I still love wearing it. (I have 7 inch wrists).

I think these midsize Seamasters look fantastic on the wrist. Me personally I'd happily wear either mid or full size.

All this talk about the bezel making the watch appear smaller, I don't think is at all relevant when the bezel shares the same colour as the dial like these do.

Any contrasting bezel certainly does have that effect of making a watch appear smaller, example this 37.5mm wears smaller than its size. Looks smaller than the 36mm midsize Seamaster doesn't it? Imagine if this watch had a bezel insert in black as with the Seamaster, it would almost certainly wear bigger.

Good point and thanks for attaching the pic to demonstrate.

I was the same as you. I didn't think much about the size of mine when I bought it. It just happened to be the only one in the shop window and it looked and felt perfect to me when I put it on. I have subsequently seen an example of the full size SMP and thought it was a bit too large for me.

I haven’t been wearing my watches much at all since I’ve been working from home - putting one on was part of the getting dressed in a shirt and trousers process which hasn’t been applying recently! This is also leading me to try and thin out my collection. Anyway.... inspired by this thread I though I’d put on my mid size this morning.

so here it is on a 7.5-8” wrist. Not in the fashion of the big bulky watches that are currently the fashion but looks good to my eye.

I also wouldn’t bet against the fashion reversing at some point back to smaller items

Seeing how dark the blue is on your bezel inserts makes we want to replace mine. What do you guys think? Will it ruin the look of the watch if I replace the faded insert? I kinda like the look of it with the aged lume. But I know with a new insert it will look fresh, but I am conscious on how it will look with the aged lume.

My vote is keep it as it is as it matches well the dial patina. Looks good all together and could look a bit odd now with a new bezel.

I replaced mine as I cleaned the oven with it on and it stripped the bezel completely!! Massive mistake.

horses for courses again really - I like the NOS look rather than patina on watches but plenty of people feel the other way

Just curious...

Does anyone know if this midsize 2551.80.00 Seamaster have the inner anti magnetic cover on top of the movement?
