Is The Grey Side of the Moon Still Worth it in 2025?

Hey Guys & Ooo... it's watch ladies,

Looking for honest opinions if the GSOTM from an OB is still worth it in 2025.

You might say "get what you like", "don't listen to other's opinions", "buy it on the grey/used market for 50% off" etc got it.

In this case I'd love your honest & full opinion: is the GSOTM worth it from an OB in 2025?

thanks for taking the time!

How much is the price, I guess that’s the main question. The thing with these ceramics is there’s less benefit in buying new as they don’t wear like steel cases, so a used one is identical to a new one unless it has been cracked or chipped, which is rather rare. So probably not if the price has gone up with time.

Personally, I don't think the ceramic case automatic line are worth paying list price from an OB. They are nicely done, great movement and all, but they are thickish. I wouldn't worry about chipping or cracking the case, I think that is a very minor concern. I had a blue one about five years ago, but never gelled with it and I moved it on. I do have an Apollo 8 which I like better because it is a manual and sits better. But it's all personal.

Yea thats way, way too much. They’re amazing value used but the MSRP is far too much.

I wouldn't pay msrp for one since there are 6 listings at the bottom of this page for them...

None of those are available on their respective websites at this time. Old, out of date ads that were never updated.

Plenty on C24 between 7-10k usd. I guess it's how badly someone wants one.

I'd say it depends very much on whether you value the "boutique experience", as it was discussed here many times. You should definitely see it in person to see whether you like the ceramic case. IMO the gray one is the best of the bunch, the others look cheap in my eyes, but each to their own.

Wearing my DarkSide today.
yes. It’s worth it, if you have the wrist for it. I don’t, hence DarkSide. This is a 44.25mm watch.

I would actually like a White one, but too many purchases this year. A friend is picking up a dark side this week.

I assume the OP already saw the watch live. If not, I highly recommend trying it as the watch is rather big and bulky and sits quite high on the wrist.

I had a 12% discount on mine from an OB back in 2019.

MSRP back then was the same as it is now.

My only hesitation would be its pretty old by now and maybe the only production watch without METAS. Omega might replace it soon? dunno.

I had a GSOTM. Updated version with the fold over clasp. Loved it and only sold it to make way for other watches. I'd buy pre owned at half the RRP.

wow, which OB gave you a discount? I think those days are over, but maybe they're back or coming back??

I can say my OB (Zurich) seems a lot slower these days than, say, a year ago.

I bought a plain Jane hesalite Speedmaster from the Geneve Boutique in June 2017. Retail on the watch was CHF 4,700, after export tax rebate it would have been CHF 4,352, but they charged me CHF 4,100 which was a 5.8% discount (4,100/4,352). Plus they threw in an Omega strap and deployant buckle which was a CHF 610 bonus. But I doubt they would do that today, they have tightened up on discounts.
