Was looking around online and noticed that Omega recently trademarked "Omega Smartdial" and "Omega Smartstrap." I hope this is just to protect themselves should they ever decide to go down this road and are not actually going to jump into this market. If this is something they really immerse themselves in, I am afraid Omega will go right back to the Omega of the post quartz crisis era. Anyone with any insight or thoughts on this? (Off topic - they trademarked "Planet Ocean Deep Black" so my guess is they have some leftover ceramic laying around and a ceramic PO will be shown at Basel '16).
The new Tag smartwatch is pretty slick. Omega has spent too much capital moving up-market to lose the spot they're in now.
It is mind boggling how little I care for any smart watch, regardless of what brand name it may have.
If swatch group wants to enter the smartwatch market has a lot of other options than risking omega. A lot of other brands to play with.
The 'off topic' part is the most interesting... I have actually seen the prototype of the Deep Black... any eye rolling/urge to groan at the idea of milking the ceramic cow quickly disappears at the sight of the execution!
I can see Swatch Group integrating smart tech into maybe Tissot, or swatch, but never Omega. Tag is actually offering an exchange policy just for the Connected smart watch if you're not happy with it you can trade it in for a 1500$ credit towards another watch.
That's pretty cool actually. Good way to get people to drop $1500 and once you've put that much down, why not a bit more for a 'good' watch? @Superdoc, got any pics?
