Is my seamaster 300m coaxial faulty?

Hi, new to this forum as I only recently purchased my seamaster 300m co-axial brand new from official jewellers. Unfortunately i immediately had issue with powder reserve on watch only lasting around 23-24hrs (from dead stop to a full wind of 50 turns). I believed the reserve should be closer to 48 hrs so I took it back to get looked at - jewellers agreed it should get much more and said they would return to omega for checks and explained that would take 4-5 weeks. So have just got watch back a few days ago and deliberately let run to dead stop to test power reserve again (50 winds) and looks like its not fairing much better - first try got me 24 hrs 10 mins and then tested a second time and got 30 hrs. Can anyone advise if this amount of reserve is unacceptably low and would I have grounds to request a replacement watch? I have a feeling the jewellers will try and say low 30's hrs reserve is OK but I would not be happy unless I get much closer to the documented 48hrs of reserve. I love the watch itself and would be happier with a brand new replacement for peace of mind rather than another return back to omega (assuming the jeweller did actually send it back - I asked them if omega had found anything wrong with the watch but jeweller said omega don't provide a service report on work carried out under warranty which I thought was strange!). Any advice much appreciated!...

Did you wind it all the way until the watch crown feels resistance or did you just count 50 times because some people one turn they barely get half way rotation. Just grip on the crown for certain fingers.

Hi - dont have a pic but the model from omega catalogue is 212.30.41.20.01.003 Yes I can appreciate slight variations in the amount of rotation on a wind but I checked looking at the symbol on the crown than my single wind was basically a fully 360 degree rotation of the crown done 50 times. My second test wind I did feel resistance on crown (when I was checking the amount of rotation) which did improve power reserve to 30hrs - but even giving there may be slight variation in the full wind, 30hrs is still way below the documented 48hrs which I think is still unacceptable.

So if that is the case do you think I have grounds to ask for a replacement - given that the watch has already been back to omega (according to the jewellers). I just have lost a bit of confidence with the watch but if they offered replacement which performed much closer to the documented reserve I'd be more than happy. If they dont offer replacement what is the minimum 'observed' reserve I should accept assuming they will take it in for further servicing? Cheers

After purchase I was wearing regularly but it's not my everyday watch and as I do quite a bit of outdoor stuff were for me this watch is too expensive to get damaged, that's basically when I discovered the poor power reserve issue, ie when it had been found at dead stop and then fully wound it would be found stopped again less than 24 hrs later - I don't keep the watch on overnight and would not likely be wearing every single day. S as above the watch had been set back to omega and I've only just got it back to discover the issue largely remains...

If you are absolutely sure you are winding it fully, and the watch is not running for more than 30 hours, it's faulty. I know many on these forums will say you have a right to a replacement watch, but that really is not how the Omega warranties (or most warranties in fact) work. They usually specify repair or replacement at the manufacturer's discretion. Of course some countries have laws that specify otherwise.

No idea where you are located, so take it back to whoever you bought it from and work it out with them. No one is going to be able to tell you for sure what you will get from the store you bought it from, so the only way to know for sure is to talk to them.

Thanks for the advice. The jeweller is an offical omega reseller and deals in mainly in higher end products so I'm not doubting the quality of the watch. However it was bough as the last one of that model available in stock ie the window display model which I presume is one which customers would see and try on. The watch is faultless in appearance but along with the power reserve issue I also asked them to check the clasp on the silver braclet as it wasnt engaging properly aswell, ie it would seem to 'half click' as if closed but would quickly spring open. I also asked for this to be looked into when the watch was returned and again this issue persists which I why I was hoping for replacement. If Omega's policy is to repair/service the watch then I would be happy to accept that if the returned watch was trouble free but because both issues persist, this is why I have sort of lost confidence in this particular watch and would prefer a brand new (not ex display) stock item.

I would find it odd that if it was sent off for repair the mainspring would not be simply replaced if it was an issue before. To have it at 30 hours low especially for that watch. I would speak with the store to see what they can do for you but I don't know if requesting a new one is within their guidelines. Just ask and see what happens.
