Is my brand new speedy’s 12:00 index crooked?

See picture- I noticed it later in the day after purchasing. Slightly leaning left, pic is straight on. I know these are handmade and am happy to accept this but of course I keep noticing it now that I saw it! Just curious of this community’s opinion- is it worth taking this back in to the Boutique or is this just the acceptable imperfections that come with handmade? Am I being overly obsessive here or should I expect perfection?

Thank you for this- it’s not the chrono hand I’m talking about but the 12:00 index not being centered between the two lume dots

I definitely see it, and I don't think it is parallax error here. While I'm sure that these are placed by machine, of course 'stuff happens', and this seems like a VERY difficult to see unless you've seen it😀

If it bothers you enough, I suggest taking it back to where you purchased it and ship it back to Omega. They'll likely replace the dial for you under warranty.

In my opinion, you are.

It looks like the 3, 4 and 5 minute markers are also not lined up properly. I'd take it back.

Im not seeing what you mean- do you mean the hour markers or minute? (Either way I don’t totally see it). Thanks!

My bad, I meant the 3, 4 and 5 hour markers. They aren't centered between the small minute increments, which can be seen at the white lume plot on each hour marker.

9 isn’t wonderful either. Are we positive it’s not parallax?

This, unlike some other things that get posted and worried about here, strikes me as truly unacceptable. Beyond one little mistake that slipped by qc and that no one without ocd would ever notice.

Go get a dial replacement. Pretty sure these hour markers are applied by hand with tweezers, so imperfections are unavoidable.

I had a similar issue with a Tokyo 2020 Speedmaster. I got the dial replaced then sold it. It's only noticeable if the chronograph hand isn't covering it.

No.
It's not paralax.
It looks like a dud dial and it should be replaced. Especially given the prices we pay for these things.

I've had a Rolex dial replaced under warranty due to poor build quality and i don't see how Omega wouldn't do likewise.
It's a fairly simple dial swap after all.

That 9 marker of the minute sub dial looks really bad actually, clearly not parallax effect
That alone and I would ask for a dial replacement, leave aside the hour sub dial marker of 9 and 3
It really looks like a poor made dial.

I’m not a stickler, but the 12 o clock marker being that off would bug me - it’s noticeable at just a glance.

There are both functional and design elements drawing the eye to the 12 o clock marker - it’s not unreasonable to want that one in particular to be straight. As others have pointed out, the 9 is off, too… may as well get it fixed when the 12 is addressed.

Thanks for the help- what are you seeing off with the hour subdial at the 3 and 9?

I think it's the 9 o'clock dial marker adjacent to the marker on the sub dial.
The inboard end of it, is out of whack with the tick on the subdial and it highlights the defect.
As is the case with the other wonky hour markers around the dial.

Anyway.
A dial swap will fix it.

I also noticed that the small hands in the hour and minute totalizer sub-dials are not properly reset to vertical. What happens when you reset?

Absolutely, the tick marks are totally asymmetric around the applied markers. I noticed that too.

Can we see more photos of the dial?

This watch is actually pretty awful, I have no idea how this one escaped quality control at all. At least half the hour markers are wonky, the minute totalizer isn't aligned, the hour totalizer has moved a TON for 15 seconds, so IT is probably misaligned (Both as you say).

IMO, this is a watch that doesn't reflect Omega's typical manufacturing quality, I'd be bringing this back ASAP.
