For a while ARCO went with the BP logo on the service stations. I actually like the green. And it was fun as a bit of a britophile to use BP stations. Before they went with interstate banking, Lloyd's of London was one of the local San Francisco banks. Banks should never reach beyond the local communities. Sadly once the people who learned the lessons in the Great depression were dead, the regulations that were put in place were scrapped. All in the name of 'Convenience.'

Eventually they went back to the ARCO logos and colors.

Not sure if there is really anything left of Atlantic Richfield. One of the towns nearby is still sort of known as Avon.

In this day and age it is about the buying and selling of companies. Shell dominated this community for over 100 years. Then sold off the physical assets. Now the plant keeps breaking down, as the new owners do not pay as well.

The idea now is to convert these to processing bio-fuels. Ideally they would like to just replace everything with hydrogen. So far no one has found a way to deal with the embrittlement issues. Storing hydrogen in difficult.

C’mon, surely service stations would be the obvious best place to buy genuine quality watches!
The corollary being "Gas Station Sushi".
