Did the perfect pumpkin patina give it away 😀. Seems to be a hallmark of his speedies!
Still an assesment without proof and just for the fun of saying something not really clever ...

My wife turned green on a cruise once. It most certainly did not add to her value.

My wife turned green recently, when uncharacteristically, a younger, attractive blonde at a party told her that she and I had "a connection." It did add to my value. At least for the evening.

An assessment, correct. Based on my personal observations. I don't need to prove anything to anyone else.
But, I'm not the only one as you well know. But you are right, I am not very clever.

Just an FYI: Alex / dablitzer (the owner of Vision Vintage watches) was booted off here for his dealings. At the time, there was more than enough proof via complaints from members to ban him. Whether or not there ever was a case of a relumed Speedmaster dial claimed to be original is beyond my recall, but it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine him doing it.

You can put a note about me next to my screen name now too.

Or I should? I mean owning some "critical" pieces can most likely water a clear view on things.

So ... do you know him ? Have you ever talk with him in real life ? Did you ver discuss watches with him ?
He certainly made mistake in the past , he learned about hem , and he corrected the issues.
No if you want to stay on your though about him, I have no issue with that , but claiming watchnis relumed just because you dont’like The man ... without any proof ... sorry... it is just bullshit ...

Yes, I talked with him via email and here. Yes, I discussed (and helped him buy) watches.

I never said the watch was relumed. Ever. I made no call on it either way. I just noted that given his past shenanigans and games, it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine him claiming a relume to be original.

And for the record, I won't talk with him anymore. He burned that bridge..... with MANY members here because he proved himself to be untrustworthy and more worried about making money than being honest.

That's the last I'll comment on him in this thread.

The first discussion was about the watche... now if nobody has proof about relumed ... and not only for this watch ( because there was another discussion today abit a 1675 for sale) ... I just think it is better to not claim anything.

Thant is just my opinion as it is also my opinion about Alex witch is my friend.

Here is my 2998-6. Dial and hands (minute and hour) patina appears similar to the OP 2998-6.
The dial and hands on this “6” are all original (radium).

Did anyone email to get the asking price? I'm sure it's astronomical.

I have seen one with green bezel at Mathew Bain's site. 2998-5 I think.

Mathew Bain is $'s. These hi end dealers ALWAYS seem to have perfect dials, lume, cases. Makes one wonder where exactly they come from if original ?
There is an Aladin's cave somewhere that these trophy watches emerge from at pre ordained intervals.
Provenance is everything these days especially with Rolex.

From a dealer's POV, the situation is very simple: if we take a 105.012 for instance. A nice example with an ugly lume will not sell for, maybe, 8 grand.
Relume it with tritium (some guys do it in Italy) & the watch sells for 12 grand instantly. No one can know for sure if it has been relumed.
Of course, it will sell as original.
A dealer explained all of this to me...

Indeed, Bain's 2998 is not cheap 😀 But the watch is also nice, no doubt.
