Is Grand Seiko worth the money?

It's a Credor, not a GS. Stylistically they are very different. Any price can be justified by glueing enough diamonds on.
Ok thanks for the clarification.

Ok thanks for the clarification.
When I used the Credor example it was to illustrate that Seiko was not just a low end watch manufacturer and that they produce highly respected high end watches, of which the GS is one. Yes it is a different line in the Seiko watch world, but with or without the diamonds, it is still a very expensive and technical watch.
The Credor Spring Drive Minute Repeater
"Something More Complicated
As simple as the Eichi II (42,000) is, the Spring Drive Minute Repeater ($320,000) is complicated. The dial is entirely open-worked, so you can see the nearly 700 components keeping time. At most, three of these watches are produced each year. Getting to see one in person is something you don't want to turn down, if opportunity appears. "

No diamonds on this dial.

I only mentioned it was Credor because this is a GS thread. I find many GS beautiful, but Credor generally gives me the technicolour yawns.
Seiko time corp. spans the full range of availability. Much like the Swatch conglomerate. Different branding must make sense.

I understand completely. I know I was a little off topic by mentioning the Seiko Credor model, but, as previously stated, I wanted to demonstrate that Seiko is not just an inexpensive quartz watch.
Not sure what you mean by "technicolour yawns", but the Eichi 2 is about as simple as it gets for only 52,000. Take care Michael.

Definitely out of my wheelhouse but that is a nice looking watch.

Grand Seiko is certainly worth the money. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is way above their price range. Remember reading an article that had macro shots of a Patek, Breguet, and a GS, real eye opener on their attention to detail.

Externally, GS are done very well. Internally they are not anything special in terms of movement finishing.
