Hello everyone,

I would appreciate your opinions on this Omega Seamaster TV Dial that I am considering purchasing.

The asking price is $750. According to the seller, all parts are original except for the dial, which has been professionally repainted/refinished.

Is the seller from South Korea?

The redial hurts collector value, the integrated bracelet also restricts options to change the look of the watch.
$750 (AUD$1000) is a bit high, but if you aren't after total originality and just want a nice integrated bracelet watch and you can afford it, I see no probs.

The seller is actually from the Philippines.

I agree with what you said. I really like the design and overall look of the watch. My main concern is resale value down the road.

In your experience, would it be difficult to sell a watch with a repainted dial like this in the future? Or do you think there would still be enough interest as long as the price is right?

Thanks, I appreciate your input.

If you're wondering if the watch is worth its asking price, and/or if your main concern is resale value, check out what kind of prices this Seamaster TV model has sold for on ebay. You'll get a good idea of what people have been prepared to pay for an unmolested version and go from there. What kind of number constitutes 'the price is right' is ultimately determined by you. Personally, if you're buying a redialled watch, you're buying it because you like it. End of. But if your main concern is expecting a decent return when you come to sell it, you're buying it for the wrong reason.

A repainted dial is always debatable subject.

There is nothing inherently wrong with a repainted dial, particularly when a seller discloses it. It just depends on what your priorities are as a buyer. If you prioritise originality and long-term collector value, I would recommend to steer clear.

If you are more interested in the aesthetic and design value, and aren't too fussed about economic value retention or appreciation (which is totally fine), then I would go for it if you like it.

In terms of this specific piece - $750 seems on the high end of the range. Not unreasonable, but far from a steal. Depends on how much you want the watch.
