Introduction & Waltham A11 question

Hi All,

I appreciate this is an omega forum and this is a non omega question.

This is also my first post so I will introduce myself a little as well. I have 3 omegas a speedmaster, a planet ocean and a vintage seamaster. I have 3 sons but my youngest now 10 has decided he too likes watches and so our watch journey really begins.

I think it will become apparent I know little about watches other than what I like.
Last year I took my 10year old to Birmingham watch fair where he bought for himself a Seiko 5 for £40. It looked great but by the time we got it home part of the dial was rolling around loose. I have a few basic tools so we opened our first watch found our way to the face and re-fixed it. He loves this watch and is a definite Seiko fan now.
He also has an obsession with Waltham ww2 era watches and at the same fair I bought what I guess is an A11 although it has no military markings. The hands moved and it wound so I bought it while he wasn’t looking and thought I will tuck it away for his birthday which is now only a few weeks away.
This morning as birthdays are coming back to mind I pulled out the watch only to find that the hands have stopped turning although it does wind still.
My question is do I opt for a repair, I don’t really know where is suitable to repair this style of watch. It isn’t in the best shape case wise…it is 85 years old! Or do I look for another and keep this as something we can learn on. I don’t have a huge budget and now only have until the 21st until his birthday but other than ebay am unsure where to look or who to speak to. For reference I’m based in Somerset, uk.
Many thanks for any advice given. I’ll post up a picture of all my watches if people are interested?
