Introduction : Amazing white Hobnail 2503-17

Hello

I would like to show you one of my favorite watches. Beautiful 2503 white Hobnail 36mm case SS beauty..

I find it at one watch fair , it came on old brown leather strap , with original buckle and box.

Overall condition is more than nice to wear it in special moment or just to take some cool wrist shoths..
No scratches, no dings or something similar..
I have many straps and often change them

I am not very well versed in this particular reference, but from a purely aesthetic standpoint, the watch is beautiful. I wish I had watch fairs like this around my neghbourhood 😆

After that beaitiful dial structure my favorite are markers & numbers style ..
From I started with collecting vintage Omega watches I was looking to find one nice watch with dial style like that..

Yes, this watch is nice but I think the dial is aftermarket. The dial looks whiteish, and the hobnail texture looks odd; I'm not sure if I ever saw one like that in a vintage Omega.

I’ve seen around 3 watches with that dial pattern.

However, for this one, the dial ‘might’ have been repainted.

Well, I think the squares of hobnail texture on this are larger than ones I have seen. Plus, the tops of those squares are flat instead of 3D/piramidsish? What do you think, Tee?

Nothing wrong with dial! Looks good to me, although I wouldn't describe this texture as hobnail...I used to describe it as, "my grandmother's tablecloth" although I have to say hobnail sounds cooler 😉 Here's one I sold some years ago in 18kt rose gold

I had no other idea what to call it. Looks very similar to hobnail..
And even better, several collectors agreed on the name, so that's what I called it..

It looks like the same model?
Only your was in gold?

Just did some quick research and I agree with cristos71. Original dial, but I wouldn’t call it hobnail.

I can't believe it - they are so wrong with their opinion: must be a little underdeveloped sense of beauty, they have room for progress, right? 😄
Paired with such a strap it gives a well-balanced contrast of black and white (not quite white, but it works as it should).
The strap style is unusual and perhaps unexpected for some people, but this strap style was well known in wristwatches from the 40s to the 60s, so there is no problem using it with such a vintage wristwatch.

It is also a good option for casual wear.

There’s another example with the same dial presently for sale on eBay, but unfortunately the dial has some blemishes.
