This new Omega release is not only about a new Speedmaster but also about pushing boundaries in terms of accuracy. Meet the Omega Speedmaster Super Racing 329.30.44.51.01.003, featuring the new Spirate System. This watch is a visual tribute to the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra “Bumblebee” (the black and yellow version) introduced exactly 10 years ago, […]

I have the bumblebee so I don’t need eye strain with a two counter chronograph to commemorate it. Don’t get me wrong, the new Spirate system is interesting, but it doesn’t rate as high on my list as the 15,000 Gauss accompaniment 10 years ago. Besides, I like moon watches and space watches with 3 sub dials that have 1 hand per sub dial. Call me old fashioned, call me semi blind, if you want.

Not that I'm surprised, but I was sure hoping that a "small thing" would also apply to the case dimension. 44.25mm is way too big for me.

Am I correct in assuming the '10th of every month in typical Speedmaster typography' is a nod to the 10 year anniversary of the Bumblebee, or is there some other significance I'm missing?

Anyone else feel like they could have just dropped the 'Super' and left the 'Racing'? It's not like this can measure any finer subdivisions than other Omega watches. The only thing 'super' about it, is its size...

... and also its price.

My first thoughts on this:

- Glad to see Omega continuing to innovate and striving to be the ultimate in accuracy for a daily-wear watch. Eat that, Rolex and Grand Seiko.
- The looks of this watch aren't my cup of tea, but I still think it looks really cool with the yellow colorway and honeycomb dial.
- I'm glad I bought my Speedmaster Racing before the new movement makes its way throughout the range and the price goes up. The new movement may justify the bump in price, but Omega's prices are starting to reach scary new heights, and the 9900 movement in my watch is awesome enough for me.
- That said I really like the new bracelet. The one on mine is great, but I like the looks of this one more, and it seems to taper more with smaller sized links.

The return to taper on bracelets is definitely a big plus, I mean its not new but after the 2000s and 2010s I'm happy to be able to flex my wrist in ways that were difficult before with thick barrel shaped bracelets. Much better ergonomically, and if its like that for me as a giant it must have been more annoying still to most normal people.

Looks like this watch has the same "issue" as the Chronoscope models - the bracelet end-links don't go all the way to the tip of the lugs. Not very clean IMO.

Too big, too busy, and apparently with the same flimsy wristband as the new Speedy pro. Hard pass.
And those new movements are ugly. I don’t get why this gets clear caseback.

IMHO it's fantastic that Omega has committed to continued innovation; hopefully this model will help advance the brands racing heritage; well done!

Not interested in this particular watch, but looking forward to the Spirate in future watches to help increase accuracy even further!

de gustibus non est disputandum... and indeed Omega has been using British horologist George Daniels coaxial solution for lower friction and less lubrification since 1999... so we expect a " 25th anniversary " by 2024

They should have given it an optional dark gray strap and matching details, instead of the bee-NATO
