Hi OF, I thought with the current state of the world I would try and bring some joy and share my new Seamaster 2976 - 2 I procured recently. I was patiently waiting for the extract of archive to arrive, however this is likely to be delayed now. I hope this brings a smile to some of you and will update with the archive in due course. My journey here started as purely continuing my education and no intention of buying another vintage yet (I am sure this resonates with some of you). For background after about a year and a half of research I eventually bit the bullet and got my first vintage Seamaster 165.002 and whilst wearing it with pride my what other models should I learn about started to twitch began. Enter Connie's, I started to get really interested in these models and learning about the different case types (Desmond's blog was excellent) but I went straight down the rabbit hole of the Jumbo model's - soon realizing they are rare beasts but non the less researching all the different models and pouring over the different threads on OF! Being so rare, I moved away from them, but loved learning about them and one day will hunt one out. It was during the above research I stumbled on the Jumbo Seamaster - which featured in a thread on here last year! Now I don't have particually big wrists, so I am not sure why I was/a so intrigued with the Jumbo models, but hey. Off I went on researching and the short story is I ended up talking to someone on OF and finding out they lived in the Netherlands and would consider parting with their 2976, which just so happened to coincide with a holiday I was going on with the other half (she was of course not excited when I mentioned we might have to meet someone about a Seamaster After a meeting in a cafe (not coffee shop) and a couple of hours of watch chat I became the proud new owner of my 2nd vintage watch a 2976-2 and I couldn't be happier After I got back from the holiday, I set about finding the perfect strap, some 5 straps later I received my brown/red croc strap from vncrocshop all the way from Vietnam and it is just perfect! Here are the specifics and of course some pics once I get my Extract of archive it will be going off for a service...so here it is: Seamaster 2976-2 (Circa 1958 I think) Case: 37mm w/out crown (very present on the wrist) Jewels: 20 Cal: 501 Serial: 1655 xxxx Thanks OF & the amazing members on here for continuing my education and I clearly have the bug best, Dave

Thanks very much I think there is around 6 of these floating around on here - the diameter is really striking, it looks great on the wrist not too big but very present.
while i would out of hand prefer the more simple strap on your other watch, that croc really dresses it up. congrats
I tried many straps before landing on the croc one, one day I might try a BoR or brick bracelet, but I have seen other's struggle to get end links for these as 527's don't fit right. So the croc band for me for the foreseeable

Thanks very much, I thought it important to share the story, it's thanks to this forum and all of the impressive knowledge helping to further educate me that led to me pulling the trigger. Dare I say I can see my next purchase being a Connie but I'll take my time to find a good one
Is that buckle original to the watch? I had assumed those were from the 60s but if it is original to that watch, then late 50s it is! Tom
Hi Tom, that is a good question, I have struggled to find any other examples with buckles, there is another thread on here about the 2976's but non of them have buckles in shot. Maybe the experts will chime in and give opinions, I would be keen to know. It certainly suits the watch so i would be happy if it was! Dave

You are correct, it is an AW Buckle and thanks for the link, I have saved it now as I remembered reading that essay before and has once again given me confidence the buckle is from the 50's - thanks @aprax
I thought I would round this thread off with the EoA as I was curious as to where this Seamaster started it's journey, I love how it has made it's way from Singapore, via the Netherlands and now resides in Surrey, UK!
