So this apparent 145.022-68 with a cal 321 is up for auction tomorrow at Bruun Rasmussen in Denmark. I wrote about it in another thread a couple of days back.

When looking at first I though it was just a wrong chrono hand as mentioned by another member and probably the wrong caseback as 145.022 were only delivered with cal 861(?)

Then when looking a little closer on the images you can clearly see orange colour at the sides on the hand and at the bottom. Also clearly visible from the other angle. Now it has a little obscured second digit but I would bet that it is a 6, looks like it anyway, which puts it at the exact Ultraman range 26.077.392. A 26.077.39X delivered to Denmark is mentioned in MWO I believe. Could this be a close relative?

So I would say that there is a pretty good chance that this is an Ultraman, perhaps with the previous owner being tired of the orange hand having it painted over. Can’t be sure though :)

I cannot be the only one who has discovered this but I can’t see it discussed anywhere. Bruun Rasmussen watches had an Instagram post some days ago with this watch and a puzzling hashtag #thosewhoknowknow but what it refers to, I don’t know.

What do you guys think? I actually like it better with the white Ultraman chrono hand. :D

weird - the photos were posted and visible awhile ago (maybe for a couple hours after original post) but now they show as broken links.

    Nice observation!

Or it’s an painted orange hand from an other reference, like a mk II, chronostop or similar?

Either way, your comments on this watch border lines pitching for the watch. Are you affiliated with BR? ;) Now you’ve got all SM guys all rounded up for a betting war today...

The absolute right direction. This is not a Ultraman-Hand, the square end is clearly too short and the tip reaches over the 1/100 track. It has the wrong dimensions, no matter what colour it had before.

I am by NO means affiliated with BR or the seller. I would never do that but as always OF being on their guard :) For full disclosure I tried to delete the thread again with the intention of posting it again after the auction, as I became aware that someone might take offense (the Danish collectors community is relatively small and being on good terms with people is important to me :)) but the mods put it back up. Which is good I think. Thanks to them by the way.

As for the chrono hand my first impression was that it was an Ultraman but I am by no means a Speedy expert. I just noticed the orange colour, when I looked at close ups.

As for the photos I can post them again but they are the above ones. I really hope no one views this as pitching the auction(!!!) but with the orange hand and the serial number it made sense to me. I don’t know for a fact that the second digit is 6, it just looks that way to me.

Besides the word was out before so no way this was going to go down quiet, I believe. The mysterious hashtag of the BR Watches Instagram account is a clue. They haven’t used that tag before.

My guess is the hashtag wasn’t about this lot specifically. If this was an Ultrman hiding in plain sight - or if BR believed it to be - it would be in their best interest to hype it as such rather than being sly about it.

Yeah I thought about it as well. The surfacing of a “new” Ultraman would be something I guess and it is hard to imagine BR not doing their research when a serial number so close to a confirmed one appear with that chrono hand.

Oh well... enough of me playing amateur Speedy detective.

So the results are in, the watch sold for 70.000DKK + hammer price making it approx. 12.200€. Now someone is probably biting their finger nails until the EoA arrives. :) Or then someone connected got it from Omega prior to the bidding as the whole serial number was available?

There is NO info on orange sweephands in the Archives. The only way to get this confirmed is to bring the watch to Omega...well, at least for the ordinary people, rumour has it that some have special ways to get an extract that states whatever earns them more money. But that's a different story

Looking at the watch and the MWO site dealing the Ultraman version, the dimensions of the sweep second look ok to me and I think the caseback was probably exchanged in the past, due to scratches or so.

The buyer made a good deal IMHO, while the seller should have ordered an Extract before putting the watch for sale.

But surely over €12.000 for this Ultraman, if it is indeed one, is not a bargain??

I know the prices seem to be forever increasing but the condition of the watch was far from superb. As I recall it also had a sizeable ding on the lower right lug, which didn’t show in th photos.
