Was following a recent auction and decided to make a bid on a lot with a pair of 1930s watches, one being this Omega.

It has a solid 18k white gold case manufactured by J.R Woods & Son out of New York. My research suggests the company made cases for American market Omega watches so I’m thinking it is original to the watch.

The movement appears to be similar to the cal. 26.5 family but has 17 jewels whereas most of the 26.5 variants seem to be 15 jewel.

Interesting 578 marking on the inside of the bezel.

Would appreciate any info members may have regarding the model as I haven’t been able to find anything comparable online.

I don't know anything about the movement, but the 578 is the last 3 digits of the case number, so both case pieces stay together through production. This is also done alot on pocket watch cases for the bezel, case, and case back.

A bit more research suggests the movement is part of the cal. 19.4 line. Found a photo of what appears to be a similar model in an old French catalogue.

yes, cal 19.4

you most likely will not find an Omega "name" or reference for this model because it has a locally produced case
