Interchangeability of Seamaster bezels?

Are, say, post-2000, 41mm Seamaster Professional 300 bezels all interchangeable?

    Eg
    2264.50 onto a 2231.50
    2531.80 onto a 2231.50

I'm hoping to hunt down a spare, and I'm not clear what will and won't go.

    Thanks! :)

No they are not all interchangeable.

In my experience, the pre co-ax 3 hander SMP bezels are interchangeable e.g. 2254 to 2255 to 2531 would be fine but the GMT or Chrono bezels are not as they are different. You could of course swap just the inserts but run the real risk of damaging them in the process. AFAIK the post 2008 coax bezel is different (deeper I think) as is the ceramic, not sure about the later 2008 on quartz model. If you stick to 1994-2007 3 hander then you may be fine, otherwise probably not.

Thanks, the pre-coax (less gmt and chrono) interchangeability was exactly the sort of thing I was after :)

My experience is quite different. Last year I was asked to use a spare bezel from another watch of this same era (one that had a steel insert rather than an aluminum one) to replace a bezel on a 22545000 that some local hack watchmaker had bent to crap trying to remove it with improper tools.

The plan was to pop the aluminum insert from the damaged one, put it in the good , and install that assembly on the watch. The bezel with the steel insert was not able to be installed, as the thickness was very different - this wasn't off a GMT or Chrono, but another 3-hand SMP.

I understand people think information about what bezels can be swapped on what watches is out there somewhere, but Omega doesn't provide such information as swaps like this are against their policies. Unless you have tried all the possible combinations, as I said before the only way to know for sure is to try it.

Hi Al, new here, but see your info around everywhere and really appreciate all of it.

I have the same kind of question...when you say, “the thickness was different, and couldn’t be installed, “ are you talking about the thickness of the insert that wouldn’t fit into the new(unbent) bezel, or the thickness of the bezel all together?

The bezel itself, so not related to the insert.

    Cheers, Al

    Well.....

I have a bezel and insert coming from a 2264.50 omega. Going to give it a shot putting it on my 2065.8

    I’ll report back either way.

Going to try the dial and bezel(albeit by jeweler and not personally)

Hopefully you mean watchmaker, and not jeweler...

I would ask them how they plan to remove the bezel. Hopefully using the proper tools, and not prying it off with a case knife. Prying is how the bent bezel in the photo I posted earlier in this thread happens, and how one like this one gets so bent:

I plan to. I even contemplated buying one of the Omega bezel tools and trying to get it off myself after reading that the bezel may not fit. Didn’t want to get everything over to the store and have things not go correctly. They look the same to me, but what do I know? ?? Lol.

The 2065.8/2264.50 is the black sword hands wave dial quartz non bond bracelet. I have the 2065.8/2265.8 which is the electric blue wave dial (bond/regular bracelet).

I’m a little thrown off as to why omega has the 2065.80 listed at 41.5mm case but the 2265.80 listed at 41mm on their site...

Just really don’t want to get everything over to them and have it not fit

Do you guys know if a Seamaster Omegamatic bezel can be swapped with the Seamaster Professional 300M?

Both Omegamatic 2514.50.00 and SMP300 2552.20.00 have similar cases (34.8mm):

    Thank you!

    Best regards,

Hi Al. Expanding on the question above, have seen that the bezel insert in some 41 MM models have a different outside diameter than others. Wonder if the actual bezel ring of a 2531 can be fitted to a 2230 and further if the 2531 bezel can fit a 2254 black bezel
