IT HAS ARRIVED!!!! and if Toppers Jewelers is right, I ain't even going to try to put it on myself. The guy over there mentioned that even HE wouldn't attempt it given that it's "a very tight fit... I wouldn't want to mar the finish on your watch." (Ugh... it's a long wait until Wednesday, when their professional jeweler comes back in) Has that been the experience for other FOIS owners that made the switch to the 1125 (with either the 617 or 560 end pieces)? It being a pain in the backside and all. Alex San Mateo, CA
It's not uncommon to have to fit these end links using a file - not a big deal and certainly a DIY sort of job...
Thanks everyone. I'll still play the waiting game, nonetheless. Funny - I'll take a wrench to any airplane with nary a pause to try to correct any issue, but messing with my prized watch is a severe no-go. Haha!
On a whim, I gave it a try... and man, what a dismal failure!!! I just could not get the pins aligned; the corners of the 617s seem to push out from the case. I'm guessing what Archer said is true - some filing to get a proper fit is necessary. At least it gave me an excuse to go back to my black leather strap. Wednesday is a LONG way away. Lol. Alex
Who knows. Maybe I have an odd piece. A likelier explanation is that I will NEVER be a watch technician. LOL.
Success! The missing ingredients - thinner spring bars and a trusted watchmaker! Pic will be going up on the FOIS Roll Call. https://omegaforums.net/threads/first-omega-in-space-2012-speedmaster-fois-roll-call.550/page-17 Thanks to all for their help. Alex
