I’ve read posts on this forum that refer to Instagram as a decent way to search for watches for sale. Does anyone have tips for how to do this?

If you see a watch you want to buy, send a pm to the person asking if he's interested in selling it. It's annoying as heck, but I can tell you from first-hand experience that people do it all day long, so they must be successful sometimes.

Search hashtags like #watchforsale and scroll through 200,000 posts at your leisure.

Just follow various Speedmaster-related hashtags. That will be more useful than just following the feeds for a few people.

search for hashtag you are looking for ie. watch you wanna buy. People who are selling tend to put appropriate hashtags with the sale. you will see them when you logon to instagram. Also, a lot of dealers have instagram account and they actually sell on it too. you can search and follow them. TBH, sometimes they sell on the instagram much faster than on their own websites.

If you are really new at IG, be careful with bogus sellers. Some simply repost others' pictures without having the watch, nor the intention in sending you anything after receiving payment.
Always background-search the sellers.
Safest bet are reputable dealers who sometimes post items on their Instagram first, before going live on their site.
If it's a private seller, it's best to meet in person.
And remember, high followers count doesn't guarantee credibility. Anyone can buy followers and likes these days.
