Could anyone shed some light on my inherited Omega? I've had a good look at it and it and can't see any identification apart from the strap. The strap is stamped with 1039 with 630 ends connecting to the watch body. I've been told that it's from the late 1960's but that's all. Can anyone give me a bit more information and a possibility ball park figure on the value for insurance purposes.

Not sure of your watch reference, you'll need to open it up and look at the numbers on the inside case back for that.

There are others here who can probably identify it at first glance, although from the design and look of it it probably has a calibre 601 or similar hand winding movement.

The dial has damage, so that will heavily reduce its value. The bracelet, a 1039, is wrong for your watch, it is too wide being designed for 20mm lugs, yours has 18mm. The bracelet however would probably sell for around €1200 as is, which is probably 3 or 4x what the watch head alone is worth.

Probably something like a ref 131.018.

As @cristos71 says, the bracelet is worth 4x the value of the watch. That said, the watch is in reasonable condition and if you like it, it's a nice piece for daily wear once you've had it serviced.

Thanks for the response, it's a very light and comfortable watch to wear. I'll use it for day to day I think.

    Thanks again

If the watch has not been serviced for a while it could probably do with one. Imagine taking a car out that has not been serviced for 20 years, it could seize up quite badly without a clean and oil of the parts inside.
Take it to an independent watchmaker (preferably with an Omega parts account). Do NOT take it to Omega for a service as they may well change parts that are a valuable part of the watches history.

Thank you, I've got a service lined up so hopefully it'll keep ticking for some time to come.
Why is the bracelet strap worth so much on it's own? Sorry for all the questions but thought the watch itself would be worth more? Like I said before though, it's staying on my wrist and it's not for sale.

The same bracelet was used on other Omega models which includes some more valuable versions. So it’s a sort after bracelet.

When it was new the watch was an entry level Omega and it's still considered as such.

The bracelet was an option on a range of Omga models but was also standard fit on Speedmasters in the late 60's/early 70's. Some of these Speedmasters are know worth up to $20,000, which has had a knock on effect on the bracelets.

That's very interesting. Shame the watch isn't a speedmaster, but.. I'm half way there with the bracelet I suppose.

As said ... were you to put that bracelet out on e bay, you would be pleasantly surprised at the feeding frenzy that would ensue.
