I also had a watch like this without the diamonds. It came from my father with a bunch of other nice Omega watches. I kep it for about twenty five years.Wearing it?Maybe two or three times eventually I tried to sell it as a watch and no one wanted it.The day I got rid of it and took the five thousand dollars cash was a very haapy day. I hope you have other watches from your dad that you can wear

In my opinion, it's totally wearable. In the right neighborhood, and setting. Size your wrist and your son's, see if you could both wear it, if you cut the band up. If you could both wear it, I would cut it.

You might just wear it once a year, but that is what a watch is for. Your son might keep it and wear it if you have worn it too. By the time you pass it on, who knows what the gold value will be. Material things are just that. It is their use that ultimately gives them meaning. A watch you saw your dad wear is very different from something you found when he passed on. Just my opinion.

After much thought, I’ve decided to sell the watch and use the money to buy an Omega that will fit. My Dad’s will never fit me or my son, and would just continue to sit in the safe and gather dust. I have other items that belonged to my father that I will keep and pass on to my son, and hope to include the new Omega that I will buy too.
Any suggestions on where to sell this watch?

Ebay is the best chance at getting full value for it, but make sure you take plenty of well-lit well framed, and completely in focus photographs with as much info as you can (including gold stamps/etc). Might be worth weighing with a kitchen scale too, in case gold value is all you'd get for it.

eBay.. but that style and 14k your. It going to get much. The value in gold scrap given earlier is too high for a 14k in that style imho.

If you're going to sell it, I'd suggest first getting a quote from a gold buyer. Putting it on eBay, it might sell for less than scrap value.

Yeah, a gold buyer is the best bet for this for sure. I'd first find a watchmaker to dismantle it for you and separate the gold out from everything else, it might cost €50, maybe even invest in a set of digital jewellers scales which can be picked up for €30 on Ebay. Money well spent IMO then you'll know exactly what you are selling. There's a lot of shenanigans go on in the gold buying world and it's always good to be well prepared before walking in to a gold buyers place and being offered a take it or leave it price.

These are the steps I took when I'd decided to cash in my gold and I was offered a very fair price. Knowing the karat and the grams offered is the key, there are so many stories of people be screwed over....18kt gold being bought in at 9kt prices, under weighing, etc, etc

Regarding melt value, as already noted above, the figure mentioned earlier was optimistic and possibly didn’t take into account the non gold components which at a guess make up around 15g or about a quarter of the gross weight (which you show above as 67g). Aim for North of $3,500 but I doubt you’ll do too much better as there is prob no more than 50g of 14k there. If you get $4k you are winning at life.
