Thankyou for your advice. That's all exactly what I wanted to know. Its unusual that rarity doesn't increase value as it usually does. But that really doesn't bother me at all. It really is a very nice watch. He was a man of fine taste and didn't miss out on the Rolex either because he did infact also have a 90's SS Daytona which I also inherited but that does have sentimental value to me so I won't be parting with it.

Rarity does affect value, but there are some market forces concerning target audiences and what factors increase value with those particular markets in play which are a difficult to convey via text. At some point I'll give it a try in a dedicated thread.

It obviously went downhill in his later years 馃榿

Happy to hear that you are keeping something to remember him by 馃榾

My best guess is that a watch like this (with some wear on the case and what looks like a greying tone to the black dial would be worth around $2.5k without the bracelet. @cristos71 is more clued up on watches like this and can probably give a more accurate assessment.

I think that's a fair assessment, maybe a little more, maybe a little less.

I think that in this particular case the word "stunning" might be allowed?

I'll try: It's a stunning watch... 馃榾

Thank you for sharing, because it's nice to see that dial refinishing can be done in an appealing way.
As usual very quick to jump to the redial conclusion, with all the attendant hurt and confusion it causes. Care to share why you think that? I can't see anything personally.

Are you saying my dial is repainted?

As "usual", yes. And I hate it meanwhile. Maybe I should stop pointing out?

I thought about five minutes before I replied.

When was the last time I said wrong and it was right? You are more present here than me. Sure you can tell me.
Would be great if you can explain what you mean then because I cant see anything wrong with it!

Has it occurred to you that when you idly shoot your mouth off and call a cherished treasure something it is not, in essence rubbish it you are causing unnecessary hurt and spreading false doubt. it is obvious you are not very good at spotting redials and have been called out several times on it now. You should stop pointing it out because you are often wrong and once is too often.

If you truly believe this dial has been repainted then by all means explain in detail why you think that is the case. It is clearly news to the owner and will be an education for me too since I can see nothing to concern me.

Basically shit or get off the pot mate.

Looking at the minute track, the subdial and the fonts, I think so, yes.

I'm only a human being and maybe totally wrong, but I thought you knew or if not you should be aware.
I have compared it to similar dials and it looks fine, honestly cant see what you say is wrong with the dial.
