Independence day Finland

I guess every family has slight variations, but probably most of us celebrate in quite similar fashion.

Spend the day with the family, watch the "Unknown Soldier" (or at least parts of it), visit the cemetary and the Tombs of the Heroes (Sankarihaudat).

Then more eating and watching the military parade.

The classic of all classic is to gather with food , wine, friend and family and watch the Presidential celebrations. Every independence day the President and the first lady hold a big gala celebrating the Independence and it is televized.

Mostly is just ppl shaking hands, and then interviews. It's slightly difficult to explain and now that I try to explain it seems a bit weird. Awkward 😬.

Then most of us finish the evening by reading or seeing from the news report how some demonstrators arrange alot of work for the law enforcement (both leftists and rightist :whipped:)

Of course a visit to the sauna is almost mandatory and some snaps.
Sounds like a great day!

Congratulations for yesterday . My wife is Finnish. I think she mentioned it yesterday. She is from a tiny village in the middle of no where. Must have been little to do there as she is one of 11 children 😲😀😵‍💫
