I picked up an unusual little watch today for $10. It was more to see what it was, and frankly, it’s nothing too exciting. I tried to look it up in a book from 1953 that I’ve owned for quite a while. Every time I refer to that book I am amazed at the photos and illustrations. With time on my hands for a few days, I thought I would share. Enjoy! Ps: Send me a message if you want a close up shot of something. I used the old ipad and the pics aren’t great. n
Thanks for posting this, looking at the watches in the illustrations we have not really evolved style wise with what is produced today. We have the off the wall stuff like RM and other high end marks but todays designs follow the classic lines of yesteryear and I like that. It's like a constant in the ever changing world we liven today.
Thank you for sharing. Great illustrations and pictures. It always boggles my mind when I see illustrations of watchmakers in the 18th, 17th, etc centuries and realize that all the parts were hand made.
Love the 18th century illustrations. I had a few ancestors who worked in the Swiss watchmaking industry in the first half of the 18th century and the first half of the 19th century - it helps me imagine what their days must have been like. Loooong days at the bench, I imagine...
