After a larger than expected tax return (long story) I decided to splurge just a little and get a fun little piece for my wrist.

Expecting the arrival of my brand new Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical ref. H69439931

Will post a write-up after week 1 of enjoying it!
I hope you're all very well out there!

Would also be interested to hear (see) from any of you that have vintage Hamilton pieces or this very watch and what your thoughts are on it.

I figured for the price, can't go wrong

That was my thinking too, but the no-date version does not seem to available in the UK, so I have to live with a date. Nice point for someone who has a number of domed hesalite watches is the slight dome to the sapphire crystal. Gives it a touch of a vintage look.

My only vintage Hamilton is a different kettle of fish

Yeah, this has a window which sometimes shows just the one date rather than two half dates. As trustworthy as a politician whose mouth is moving.

I noticed the slightly domed crystal too. It's a very gentle slope and is pleasing. So far it's extremely comfortable. I intend to report on the power reserve and the accuracy after this first full wind runs down.

Great looking shots btw!

Give it a few more winds. Mine has just over 50 hours on a wind, and 6sec a day loss, but as the power runs down goes slower, so the 50 hours really means a daily wind.

Supposedly it has an 80-hour reserve. I don't really need a huge power reserve but it would be cool if it could do it. Just like the Rolex crowd doesn't need all those precious meters. But again, that's not really the point.
Anyway, I care more about accuracy. My Fortis finally started exhibiting some nasty signs of wear so I'm waiting for this covid thing to blow over a bit longer before I send it to RGM for service.

Consequently, I find that tax returns + less time outside = danger of acquisitions

Noticed this morning that if it's an overcast day with lower light, the thing looks darker than blasted stainless steel. Almost like titanium.

So check this out...I wound the watch fully on Tuesday the 28th and began its time at exactly 1:35pm.
Hamilton claims an 80 hour power reserve.

The watch ran until Sunday (today) May 3 and stopped at 3:18:20.

That's 109:38:20. Nearly thirty percent more than promised.

Also it only advanced to +25 seconds during this first power cycle.

Great little watch, comfortable, simple and understated but a lot of fun to just look at and handle. For the price, just buy one. It's fun 😀

I’ve been umming and ahing over these. I think I’m going to buy the white dial version. Hopefully satisfy my field watch itch - they do a set with the fabric and leather nato for 500 quid which looks nice

The NATO is nice. Certainly there are better NATO straps out there but this one has the Hamilton buckle which is cool.
The hesalite crystal is a bit smudge-prone but it's a fun watch! Get one!!

Excellent pick up! Here is my black PVD version on the Kizzi velcro:
Looks great on that strap! I had a tough time deciding between the PVD, Stainless, or earth PVD. Ended up thinking I'll just go with the most classic stainless.

I haven't yet found the blacked out watch that is a must-have for me. But there's always tomorrow...

The stainless is certainly a classic and the most versatile of the bunch. One thing you won't have to worry about with the steel version is the durability of a PVD coating. Haven't had any issues with mine yet but time will tell.

That's the thing; it's a tool watch so I wanted to be able to let it show its scars in a classic way. I'm not worried about bashing it around and can always switch to one of my other pieces for more formal/ritzy occasions.

Also had a thought that it would be cool to experiment with polishing the bevel but that was merely a hypothetical thought. No way I'd do it
