Hi. I haven’t posted here in awhile but I thought I’d show off my latest purchase. I traded my stainless 42mm Planet Ocean 8500 for a Titanium Planet Ocean 8500. I’ve always liked these and finally decided to make a move on a pre-loved one. I’m very pleased so far. It’s really comfortable. I wish I’d had this one from the beginning.

Nice! I’m assuming the weight reduction is quite noticeable on the wrist. Congrats on the pickup!

Yes it’s a lot lighter! It really is a treat to wear. I might order the blue rubber strap for it as well. That will make it really light. I alway like the look of the straps but I really do prefer bracelets.

Congrats! Enjoy and wear it often!

Nice! The blue Ti Planet Ocean 8500 and the POLMLE are two of the best Planet Ocean, IMHO. I've had both for about 4.5 years. The next year I discovered the Ti Planet Ocean 9300 and now it's the one I wear 5-6 days a week.

I don't like what they did with the bezel on the Planet Ocean 8900, nor do I like the weight in steel, but despite the extra thickness of the Ti 8500 it wears well since it's less top heavy.

Congrats on the successful watch swap! The subtle blue on the Ti really looks great.

It has taken me 3 tries to get the bracelet adjusted to where I really like it, including a try with my stainless micro-adjust clasp on it. I ended up getting it perfect with the titanium clasp that is standard on this watch. This watch is really comfortable and a gorgeous watch. I should have had one of these a long time ago! Pictures because it deserves them!

Such a beautiful watch. If Omega was Rolex, this Ti Blue Planet Ocean would still be available and exclusively Ti + Blue together.

You’re right. Aside from the Speedy, Omega changes their models so quickly, nothing has time to become a classic. I think this one will be with me for a while...... I keep looking and thinking I should buy another unworn one to have around.

Hahah. I thought the same thing about the POLMLE (Planet Ocean 2500 with Liquid Metal Bezel and ceramic dial Limited Ed) and I bought a second unworn watch with stickers still intact. But over time I realized that I was not going to enjoy the watch in the safe.

I thought then that maybe I'd give it to my son for a college graduation present in 2020, but he was wanting a mechanical chronograph, and he likes his 1998 birth year Bond Quartz diver too much to start wearing the POLMLE. So it would still just stay in the safe in stickers, while needing a service if he did decide to wear it since it was so old.

I traded it for a second one-year old Grey Side of the Moon to give my son for graduation, but then my son caught the moon watch bug. I traded the GSOTM for a Rolex, and instead bought my son a birth year Speedmaster Pro 3572.50 (1998 with luminova and push button bracelet). My son has declined automatic watches in the past because at a younger age and just getting started in the world he couldn't afford the service costs, but the moon watch can be serviced by our local watchmaker for half the cost that Omega charges (our guy doesn't service co-axial watches other than the cal. 2500).

Our blue Ti Planet Ocean 8500 will still be desirable for years to come, just like the POLMLE, but I don't think either watch will turn into a gold mine over time. These watches were $7600 MSRP and sold for under $5800 new via grey market with no tax ($6900 at Jared + tax). Now they sell used for $4,000-$5,500, depending on condition and papers (over $5000 seems like overkill).

Note - When I was considering trading mine at the OB for a NOS unsold blue Ti Planet Ocean GMT a couple of years ago, as they were trying to get rid of the older models, they were offering me less than $4000 for the trade, while offering me the GMT heavily discounted for $6000. The $2000 price difference wasn't worth it to me for a bigger and thicker version. And I was afraid I'd walk out the door and see another $1000 depreciation when I crossed the threshold.

I’m sure you’re correct. They sure are nice though....
