but seriously, i'm not usually attracted to white dials but this one, with that red second hand, is looking better everyday!

Haha, yes I'm exited to put this one together!

It's an Omega 861 Caliber Movement which I've customised with a new dial and set of hands. The bezel is a Medical/Pulseometer bezel for an Omega Speedmaster Professional case... I'll leave the rest up to your imagination for now ;)

You don't think my tiny 861 caliber wall clock idea will work? :(

I would like a white dial speedy just because it's different.

Try telling my girlfriend that - all my Speedys look the same to her ;) how wrong she is of course!

Anyone know a good place to get a Kevlar or similar strap for these? Preferably one that will fit a deployment clasp?

Apollo hands? Do you mean the standard white sub dial ones? I'm always open to suggestions! :)

If you can even get them.

Just a thought, but the standard black hands are fine too.

Oh right, the Alaska Project sub-dial hands.

I actually severely dislike those! Is it just me? I got my hands on an Alaska Project Sweep hand (red) but the black hands and white dial are from a limited edition originally released for the Italian Market I believe (they are not from the Alaska Project).

Not just you - not a fan of those Alaska project sub-dial hands at all. Also - thanks for answering a question I was going to ask - you were able to find a red hand.

I have tried to paint hands before and it's not easy to get good results so I was going to ask you what your secret was, but now not applicable...

    Cheers, Al

This is now an "Incoming" thread - I have my hands on the last of the required parts for the watch:

Now I just have to pass the time before I can leave the office this afternoon and get cracking on assembly! Photos to follow tonight :)

When I got the new case home I removed the crystal, fitted the Pulsometer Bezel, and replaced the pushers with some brand new ones I had:
