Hi Guys i had one of these like 10 - 15 years ago it was NOS and never wore it ( The curse of NOS watches by the way).... I finally came across one that was in "USED" condition with what appears to be it original bracelet and end pieces !!! ! It is a " Sports " model Seamaster Chronometer with a special case construction with super anti-magnetic case design..... this one was worn and looks to be well cared for ! Looking forward to getting it , bracelet looks full length I hope it fits my wrist ... Good Hunting Bill Sohne
I am curious to know if there is anything inherently antimagnetic here? Is the dust cover and dial iron? Rare - and big - bird
Hi @ConElPueblo Yup , the Brass colored inner disk helps in the ability to shield up to 500 Gauss..... Sorry I could not find more detail info... on it.. I remember doing the research like 15 years ago... cant find my file on this one.... Did a quick search of the net ... Omega index pages did not mention it ... Thanks Steve at Old Omegas for having scaned alot of catalogs... Good On you Steve.... That reminds me I have to give him a call have not talked with him in years ! also you should note the Seamaster on the left side is in a " Super Shock Proof " case like the IWC Yacht Club and the Certina DS !! Good Hunting Bill Sohne
...But unlike the DS, the shock proofing ring is made from a mixture of parmesan cheese and bubblegum. The one in mine has completely disintegrated On the look-out for a replacement - the ideel would be a "correct" Omega replacement, but a 2mm (I believe) O-ring would suffice.
Approx 42 mm..... On the he shock proofing on the other seamaster it uses 4 little rubber grommets and due to age and good possibility of oil and such coming in constant they discentrgrate ! Bill
Dibs Bill! Saw this on EBay and was really tempted to pull the trigger. Little irritated with myself now, actually. Great condition.
Fantastic! This is a new reference to me, thanks for sharing as always. I keep having to remind myself, “it’s not always about chronographs you know Nathan”. Your posts always help me with that, thanks Bill
Hi @Nathan1967 I agree , it more then chronographs....been collecting a long time.... I grab what I like when I can... Good Hunting Bill
Hi guys. Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but I’ve just bought one of these and trying to find some info on them on the net. Not much out there. Mine has a 1170 bracelet with 30 clasp and 626 end links. I’ve seen pics of these with a cyclops style magnifier over the date, and some that don’t. Mine doesn’t have the lume on the end of the hands. Also, the indicies on mine, the triangles point outwards. Most others I see on the Internet, they point in. I’ve found one or two others that point out. I wonder if this is some sort of dial variation? And if my hands might be service hands or a variation of original? Sadly mine has lost most of the radial brushed finish now.
