I should know by now not to look at ebay after a 30 hour on-call shift, but sometimes I can't help myself. One-click ordering with Paypal is very dangerous. I think the "no scratches on the crytall" got me. A later flagship model in manual wind, hopefully a 285 movement, which would be my first manual wind Longines with a date function (always on the lookout for a 23ZD or 23 ZSD but haven't found one to pull the trigger on quite yet). Will post pictures when it arrives. Apparently Canada post has a work-stoppage issue and shipping may be delayed.

Kind of feel silly posting all my totally uncool, no-name Longines when everybody else is showing beautiful Conquest, vintage European-cased, or chronograph models. I will admit to being more interested in the movements than the cases they come in, so I have a tons of different movements in ho-hum cases. On the lookout for a 995/6/7/8 if anybody comes across one.

    It's certainly a 28x, probably a 285. Nice score!

Came yesterday, in better shape than I thought it would. Two small blemishes on crystal that my watchmaker shouldn't have any trouble with. Crown not original but for the price, I'm not complaining. It's supposed to have a 285 movement like ulackfocus noted. Will see at service time. I can't open these front loaders and don't have the magic "admiral wrench". IMG_0030.JPG

Very tempted but probably would result in wanton watch abuse.

The correct tool is useless unless the user knows the proper way to split the stem to remove the crown.
