Incoming C-case Constellation (168.017)

I didn't think I needed one of these, but for some reason I've had a change of heart. Perhaps I realized it can serve as a more-casual option from the Constellation line.

I won this at auction and am waiting for it to arrive. It will need a service and probably an extra link (or two) for the bracelet. We'll see what arrives. The auction ended at ~600 usd, which seems like a decent price.

A few observations... Brushing on case and bezel is present and looks to be correct. A few marks on the silver/white dial, but good condition otherwise. Text looks good and appears to pass the MOY test. And finally, the case back looks to be unpolished.

Looks great to me. The watch alone is worth what you paid so the bracelet is a real bonus.

But, beware, one C case is never enough. They’re addictive. I never saw the attraction until I got one.

You’ll need another for when this one’s 'in the wash', and then one with a milled bezel, then a Longines C case (plus a spare, plus a black dial) then an Eterna 3003, then random C cases because they’re so comfortable …..

Was monitoring this listing as well on Yahoo auctions jp! As a total noob on vintage omegas in general, what I noted was that there was a tiny dent at around the 40 minute marker but everything else looked ok, with the 8 stars on the caseback well intact and the 26,xxx,xxx serial dating it to 1968.

it’s probably time to get suspicious if you find a 55 year old watch in pristine condition 😉

I may be the same. Up until now, I never really cared for the case shape. I suppose we'll see how it wears In-person. 😀

Yep. Thanks for not bidding it up, friend.

I did have one question. The black strips on the hour markers -- do they tend to be onyx or paint? There seems to be some conflicting info out there, and I cannot tell from the photos. The serial number here is in the 26.3 M range.

It is matte black paint, easy to damage and slightly harder to touch up in a pleasing manner

I can definitely see the allure of the dark gray dial. Perhaps the linen one as well. I'll post some photos over on that thread when it arrives. 😀

I'm telling myself it's a good thing. I have a thing for DateJusts. I think this will scratch that itch at a much lower price. So then I can buy like 5 of these instead. 😎

Love that Eterna. Very cool.
It’s very slim. 8.2 thickness compared to 10.2 of a 168.017

Lousy picture I know but here is a vintage NOS Bucherer C-case manual winder we bought from an old guy locally. The case style is one of my favorites and I must get me another C-cased Constellation with bracelet as I foolishly traded the few we had a few years back.

Who doesn't love a bargain C-case.

Especially if it comes with it's own in-house hi beat movement...

To follow up here, the watch arrived a few days ago. All in all, I quite like it. It wears well on the bracelet and the dial is kind of interesting -- not quite white, but not quite silver either.

I'll need to add a link to the bracelet, and some adjustment of the end links is clearly needed.
