I got into watches through Rolex, but nowadays I am moving away from Rolex because of the strange shortage situation and the unpolite behaviour of the Rolex-AD’s. Ofcourse: both brands are amazing and through Rolex I found the amazing world of watches. But for me: after experiencing Daytona in plat, I would choose Speedmaster over the Daytona if I would have to choose only one.
I used to love the Tintin comics as a child and when I heard the first time of this Speedmaster called Tintin... I got very excited and interested in getting one. It took some time to find the right one for me: I wanted the watch to be unworn and I should buy one from a very trusted seller. Usually I avoid buying pre-owned or some discontinued models because of all the risks.
Big thanks to DavidSW for fullfilling my Speedmaster dream. He got one unworn full set which was bought from Japan, Omega boutique, 2/2017. I checked the watch once I got it and I also ordered red/black Nato strap which I am about to get in a few weeks.
I removed all the stickers and I have been using this unique piece for a couple of weeks now. I also love the story behind this watch and thanks to Fratello watches: I also got the letter which was about this legal fight of the rights to use the Tintin on a Speedmaster. And ofcourse: I got also this miniature Tintin rocket. On my Christmas holidays I am about to read all the Tintins wearing this watch.
You know what else? I just love Omega watches with all these incredible stories behind each watch!!! The design, the feeling, the wearability...!

Congrats. The Tintin is a nice departure from the normal Speedmaster dial. I put mine on a leather strap, which changes the feel a bit (and compliments the dial more than the bracelet in my opinion). It is a great everyday watch.

Welcome to the club. Although, the TinTin is a nice watch, putting it above platinum Daytona is a bit of a stretch for me. Comparing apples and oranges...

I know exactly what you are talking about. I got mine last week, and I’m so happy - it’s a beautiful watch, and a very interesting story. But what do you mean when you write “I also got the letter which was about the legal fight....”? Is that an officiel letter, or.....?

And you should write @blubarb and inform him about the serial number. He is collecting data about the Tintin.

Congrats. The Tintin is one of those watches that I never appreciated until I sourced one for a friend and saw it in real person.

the vibrant colors, the darker black dial, and the completely white contrasting hands all work together to make the watch really stand out.

Great article, Fratello watches:
”Omega even went as far as to create a dial with a rocket ship on it and a caseback in the vein of the Mission Patch models - think flat colored decal - before the family decided to nix the project. Robert-Jan featured a picture of the Hergé (Tintin) albums that are associated with this specific watch but was asked, no - required, to take it down under threat of suit by Hergé. The legal letter is available on request to those with the Tintin watch, for collecting’ sake, just shoot us an e-mail.”
