In your opinion, is the Omega Speedmaster considered a true "Pilot's Watch?"

Nope. I'm flying the T-28, the Harvard, and the Avenger. I do fly various models, and to keep this on topic, I guess if you delete the part about the Speedmaster flying to the moon, it's not really a pilots watch.

Well let’s define a pilots watch...

First would be Lindbergh’s Watch with the crazy bezel for navigation.

2nd the German fliegers oversized black dialed 3 handers that are easy to read.

3rd the Navitimers with the built in E4B slide rule and Chrono.

Current watches billed as Pilots watches... IWC, Brueget, Sinn... almost all are black ( or dark blue) dialed and easy to read with normal bezels normally with chronographs. Which you can argue the Speedmaster was one the first and arguably the most successful in legibility and appearance. Almost are missing oversized crowns for use with no longer needed insulated flight gloves.

A pilot's watch is a watch owned by a pilot 😉. I'm sure there are pilots who own a Speedy making the Speedy a Pilots watch.😁

I still reckon that is the understated dress uniform, of a Bolivian Tank Commander 😉

I've seen cartwheels smaller, than that hat !

The Speedmaster is definitely a pilots watch, for example the iconic Moonwatch and the x-33 skywalker which was helped designed by astronauts and pilots for astronauts and pilots. From the words of Mr. Tom Stafford, he told us he had a big hand in the development of the alarm for the x-33 making sure the sound could be loud enough to hear in a cock-pit.

Is it a pilot's watch? Technically, no. Is it one of the greatest watch designs of all time? Yup. And that's why it's worn by so many enthusiasts engaged in many different vocations, including pilots.
