Does that mean that cheaper Tissot automatic watches would have movements swapped and not serviced also? You mentioned Omega do this as well on some movements. What Omega movements would not be serviced?

The only one I have such information on for Tissot is the Powermatic 80. With regards to Omega, the primary mechanical movement they swap out at the service centers is the modular chronograph movement from the Speedmaster Reduced and similar models.

Just read in todays newspaper that Rado is releasing dive watches with 80hr power reserves.
Sounds like Swatch are going for volume, which makes sense if they are going to swap movements rather than repair..

I very much doubt the System 51 movements, and any others based on that movement, are repaired. Initially, I thought the System 51 movements were to be used only in Swatch. But I am finding them in Tissot, now. And heaven knows where else they are now being used. Speaking personally, I hope these go the way of the Tissot Astrolon movements of about 30 years ago. Prepared now to dodge flak!

Although I do not own an Omega it is now affirmed why I joined this forum instead of the others. You get a level of knowledge, conversation and understanding here that you don't get on other forums. It is a good thing you guys embrace all brands.

The "Sistem51" and Powermatic 80 are completely different movements, and not related to each other. The Powermatic 80 is a modified ETA 2824.
