Dear watch community On May 12th 7 years have gone by since Chuck Maddox died. I did not know Chuck personally but read a lot of articles he wrote. For many watch lovers his articles have been an inspiration to go deeper into the watch theme. He was a pioneer in doing vintage watches research. Sure - things evolve - and also research (e.g. on Speedmasters - some of his favourites) has developed further since the times of Chuck. But I think he has to be honoured for set the ball rolling for some uf us. For all who want recall - there was a great commemoration by Jeff Stein and Allen St. John. http://www.onthedash.com/docs/IWMaddox08Oct.pdf Fratellowatches hat also published a great article from him: http://www.fratellowatches.com/it-has-been-three-years-since-chuck-maddox-in-memoriam/ and you can still read a lot of stuff he published: http://www.chronomaddox.com I thought it may be a good idea to celebrate May 12th in memoriam of Chuck Maddox - and maybe we should do that with some pictures of watches he liked. What do you think? Best, Thomas
Always enjoyed reading his many discussions and one of the main reasons why I am looking for that Gallet Excel-o-graph. Here is my small tribute:
Chuck's passing was around the time I bought my first Omega, was incredibly sad to have missed out on his life but enjoyed reading so much on his site.
picked up this one after a long email exchange with him about 5100s and 1040s and unusual speedys and the associated strap project was based on his comments about modularity
