Importance of hang tag in preowned market

Hello all and happy holidays,

An opportunity to acquire a Snoopy 50th anniversary has come up with a ”full” set on the secondary market at a good price. From what I can see every part of the set is included apart from the hang tag which apparently was not given to the buyer from the OB.

Would this concern anyone as to its authenticity?

Hang tag is a non-issue for me. The usual “buy the seller” etc is more important. I think stamped warranty cards and reliable seller history should be enough

Probably was removed when sizing the bracelet or before passing the watch on a strap to try on and didn't make it back into the box or bag prior to leaving.

It means absolutely nothing and being missing is of no concern at all in any way.

All the hang tags were removed from my watches I bought at my OB. I wouldn't be concerned at all if the hang tag was missing.

My omega dealer also removes them.I don't think they are important. I don't care anyway.

I never got the hang tag on my 3861 bought from AD, didn't realise it at the time and it doesn't bother me, I have everything else, warranty cards, box receipts etc. As it comes with the remaining full set I would be happy.

As others have said, it’s more important that the warranty etc is present. I think I have my hang tag from my 3861, but have never looked at it again; didn’t get it on my AT and have never given it a second thought.

Hang tag is only important for Rolex flippers. For everyone else, it simply goes in the trash.

To be fair to Rolex owners, I think it does matter more there since that hang tag is the only thing that confirms rolex's "superlative chronometer" certification. So its kinda like the METAS tags we get or the COSC certificates other brands provide.

I could be mistaken though, I only own one Rolex and never really paid much attention to hang tags lol.

At what point is the Hang tag even added? Does it come with the watch from the factory, or does the boutique or dealer add it?

If a watch was specifically ordered for a customer or if a watch had literally just arrived when it was purchased, would it have a tag? My 75th anniversary heritage was like this and I never saw a tag.

Curious when the tag is part of the process.

It should have been shipped together with the watch in the plastic/cardboard coffin as it has the serialno. on it.

Good to know. I guess it probably got discarded with the coffin when it came out of it, since the boutique never had any reason to put it onto the bracelet in the first place because it never went to display?

My A11 50SS also didn't go to display but has the hangtag.

🫨🫨🫨 you've ruined my life with this information. I'll never be able to wear this watch again.
