Does anyone know if there are any taxes eg VAT that need to be paid when importing a watch from Switzerland to the UK?

They are not EU but are in the free trade zone. I'm seeing a lot of contradictory posts on the web.

If you buy a new one from Switzerland you can buy it without VAT (8%) or get a refund of it later.

But you still have to pas your VAT in UK... just don't pay for both.

Legally you should have a proof of duty paid in your residential country.

 

Ok good to know saw a watch in Switzerland at a decent price but perhaps not so great with 20% vat on top.
