I am starting to feel a 'Lakes' fix coming on, been a while and ok the weather will be what it will be but with the right kit 😀

If ever you are tempted and FWIW I generally stay in the National Trust campsite at Great Langdale. Excellent facilities and the perfect location to explore either the Pikes or the Bowfell range. Or even Side Pike, believed by Alfred Wainwright to afford the best view of the valley. IMHO he wasn't wrong. If the weather is filthy then a bus ride to Skelwith Bridge and then valley floor walks along Great or Little Langdale are beautiful and bring you back to the campsite. (Disclosure - I have no affilation or connection with the NT or Alfred Wainwright). As you say the right kit is ever an essential!

Really appreciate your recommendations, we are past our camping days and now have a motorhome but will certainly look up Great Langdale 👍

No hanging about as we were thinking about heading off in a few days time and the site looks ideal, will need to give them a call as our motorhome at 7.3m is over the max size but perhaps a good Scots lilt just may let us in.

An added bonus the Old Dungeon Ghyll Pub 😁

We have 13 hardstanding pitches with electric hook up which can be booked online. 6 are at the far end of the site, closest to the Old Dungeon Ghyll pub (2 minute walk away), and 2 are located behind our reception block with 5 additional pitches just beyond the western toilet block.

Up, up and away (in my beautiful balloon)

(Sorry for the poor quality of the photo - but this Sammy Davis Junior version is my favourite)

Whenever I am in our motorhome my spirits are well and truly lifted, the memories of where we have visited or the expectation of where we are headed 😀

Hearing my 6 year old complaining about playing football breaks my heart. But yesterday he ran well. I thought maybe he does have a little of me in him. Proud to see him run hard.

looks like he’s in a jam and won’t be able to break it outside

Cuts it and received a let’s call it legal block haha

And shows some speed while looking back probably surprised he made it through haha

Arthur Ashe on the NYC subway circa '70s. What a different, and, I'm sorry to say, in many ways better world...

My daughter’s Pit Bull with the newest arrival, a Dachshund puppy. He is confused and awed by this small short legged alien creature that has invaded his personal space.

Me and the missus love nature and mushrooms 😀 If my spirit is down, a nature walk definitely helps…
